PERUTUSAN PENGARAH

Pusat Kokurikulum berusaha mengimbangi antara kecemerlangan bidang akademik dengan aktiviti bukan akademik, agar dapat melahirkan siswazah yang seimbang dan harmonis dari segi intelek, emosi, rohani dan jasmani.

Kegiatan kokurikulum merupakan agen penerapan Kemahiran Insaniah. Justeru itu, aktiviti- aktiviti kokurikulum selain memberi pengetahuan luar bidang pengkhususan akademik, juga dapat melatih para pelajar dalam aspek kepimpinan, pengurusan organisasi dan sikap para pelajar supaya sentiasa aktif dan inovatif terhadap kecergasan fizikal dan mental. Sehingga kini, Pusat Kokurikulum mengendali 96 kursus yang melibatkan lebih kurang 7,610 orang pelajar dengan disokong oleh seramai 96 Tenaga Pengajar dan 149 orang Instruktor. Bagi menghargai sumbangan Tenaga Pengajar dan Instruktor, inisiatif telah diberikan dalam bentuk elaun.

Sepanjang pengendalian kursus kokurikulum berkredit ini, beberapa pembaharuan dan penambahbaikan telah dipraktikkan sebagai usaha untuk memantapkan lagi perlaksanaannya supaya ia dapat benar-benar memainkan peranan memupuk, mengasah dan mempertajamkan bakat para pelajar sejajar dengan profesionalisme keguruan.

Perubahan struktur telah dilaksanakan mulai Julai 2008 iaitu pelajar wajib mengambil 6 jam kredit kursus kokurikulum berkredit. Bagi kursus Badan Beruniform, kerjasama dan bantuan kepakaran pengajar diperolehi daripada NGO dan badan-badan kerajaan lain seperti Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia, Bulan Sabit Merah Malaysia, Persatuan Puteri Islam Malaysia, Persatuan Pandu Puteri, Jabatan Pertahanan Awam Malaysia, Angkatan Tentera Malaysia, dan Polis Di Raja Malaysia.

Melalui penglibatan dalam kursus-kursus kokurikulum yang ditawarkan, diharap para pelajar dapat meningkatkan minat dan bakat yang ada ke tahap yang lebih tinggi. UPSI amat menggalakkan pelajar-pelajarnya sentiasa aktif dan bersifat terbuka, bersemangat sukarelawan dan berpasukan. Pihak Universiti juga mengalu-alukan cadangan-cadangan yang membina demi mempertingkatkan perkhidmatan dan penawaran kursus kokurikulum oleh Pusat Kokurikulum UPSI.

Co-Curricular Centre seeks balance between academic excellence in non-academic activities, in order to produce graduates that are balanced and harmonious intellectually, emotionally, spiritually and physically.

Co-curriculum activities help to implement soft skills. Thus, in addition to co-curriculum activities to provide knowledge outside the field of academic specialization, can also train students in leadership, management, organization and attitude of the students to always be active and innovative to the physical and mental fitness. To date, the Co-Curricular Centre operates 96 courses involving approximately 7,610 students supported by a total of 96 trainers and 149 instructors. In appreciation of the contribution of trainers and instructors, the initiative has been provided in the form of allowances.

During the operating of co-curriculum course, several improvements and has practiced as an effort to strengthen its implementation so that it can really play the role of nurturing, sharpen and hone the talents of the students in line with the teaching professionalism.

The structural changes were implemented from July 2008, which students must take 6 credit hours. For Uniformed Bodies courses, cooperation and assistance expertise instructor obtained from NGOs and government bodies such as the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, Malaysian Red Crescent, Puteri Islam Malaysia Society, the Girl Guides Association, the Civil Defense Department, the Armed Forces, and Royal Malaysian Police.

Through participation in extra-curricular courses offered, students are expected to raise interest and talent to a higher level. UPSI is encouraging students to be active and open, enthusiastic volunteers and teamwork. The University also welcomes constructive proposals in order to improve services and offer extra-curricular courses by UPSI Co-Curricular Centre.
